The Boatman's Call ist das zehnte Studioalbum von Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds aus dem Jahr 1997. Es ist bis heute das wohl instrumental ruhigste und minimalistischste Werk der Band.

Zum Album
Der Nachfolger vom Erfolgsalbum "Murder Ballads" geht allerdings nicht nur musikalisch einen anderen Weg, auch die Texte erzählen keine Geschichten mehr, wie auf dem Vorgänger. Vielmehr thematisiert Cave hier persönliche Beziehungen und Sehnsüchte.
Nach dem Ende der Beziehung zwischen Nick Cave und PJ Harvey scheinen drei Songs des Albums an sie gerichtet zu sein, nämlich West Country Girl, Black Hair und Green Eyes. Ein weiterer Song, Where Do We Go Now But Nowhere? ist wohl an die Mutter seines Sohnes Luke, Viviane Carneiro adressiert. [1]
